Test takers will usually hear a lecture/dialogue(60s – 90s)before they are required to write a summary of what they have just heard. The word limit is between 50 to 70 words. 10 minutes are the time required for this type of questions. There are 1 to 2 SST questions in the exam.
Advice
During the listening process, you should record 5-6 main ideas, including topic phrases/sentences and 4-5 main ideas. Usually, every 2-3 sentences have 1 main point. Then convert your notes into answers.
If you find it too difficult to identify the main points, write down as many sentences as possible (at least 5) that you can understand.
If you don’t have much to write and find it difficult to write more than 50 words. You can write your answer using the BoostPTE SST template.

Time Span
The time allowed for each Speech Summary is 10 minutes. Audio time is included in that time. You can check how much time you have left in the top right corner of your computer screen. Finishing your answer in less than 10 minutes won’t give you more time for the next question. Therefore, there is no need to rush, and always take at least 2-3 minutes to check your answer before submitting.
